I grew up in the Annapolis area, and have called Maryland home my entire life. Today I live in Ellicott City, Maryland with the best husband in the world (sorry, he's mine… I'm not sharing).
I have been shooting since I was a kid when my uncle gave me his old Canon AE-1 and a couple of lenses. I quickly became hooked! Since then I have taken a few photography courses here and there, but mostly have learned by doing while logging many hours with both film and digital, Nikons and Canons, and in dark rooms and on computers. So far it has been well over ten years that I've had a camera by my side and I have enjoyed every second!
I also happen to have a bachelors degree in Mathematics and a masters in Applied Physics, so I am a bit of a nerd. I laugh too much, have a slight addiction to french fries and am always up for coffee or an adventure.
But most of all, I love people. I have been blessed with an amazing family, and some great friends. And I love shooting people (with, my camera!). Photography is just intermingling light and moments; recording both in a tangible form.
So here are just some of the moments that I have recorded with light. I hope you enjoy them. I would love to hear from you so feel free to contact me!

I am so excited and proud that I got to be the official photographer for the third year running for the Maryland FLL State Championships! Congrats to all the teams for such a great job! Here are a few shots to hold you over until I get the others up!

As a photographer, a lover of photographs, physics, light and people, I have seen and taken a lot of photos this past year. 2011 has been a great year with the official launch of Beverly Lynn Photography, lots of weddings, engagements, seniors, families, birthdays and parties. My camera has been from Baltimore to Brazil and back again. I have shot, admired and been shot in photographs. Pinhole, film, digital, I love them all. I don’t claim to be the best or even consider myself one of the great photographers, but I am having fun and capturing all sorts of people and memories. I have made new friends, started new projects and worked at new places. I have been immeasurably blessed.
Photographs encapsulate a moment, the state of being, the emotion contained in a single fraction of a second. They don’t create memories, but record them to savor again and again for many years. And photographs aren’t always for looking back. They can capture what we were, but also what we want to be, where we want to go, our dreams, our desires. Photography has been a part of my life for so many years and is so much of my dreams and hopefully, my future. As I look to 2012, I hope and pray that I will be able to use my camera to bless others, to continue recording memories and dreams. I know that 2012 will bring with it lots of changes, good and bad, blessings and troubles. I am looking forward to this coming year.
And in looking forward, it was easy to think about my favorite shots from this year. And what may surprise you is that these shots are grainy, black and white, and a little hard to discern. I didn’t take them. Yet these are the shots that are my future, my greatest blessing.

Jenny and I met recently. A mutual friend of ours told us that we needed to meet since we both went to the same church and volunteered at the same place and yet somehow, didn’t know one another. We met for coffee a few times and I am so blessed to be able to count her as a new friend now! I am reminded of a quote from an author whom I like, “There is nothing so fine as a new friend, for in time they become the most precious of all the Comforter’s gifts – old friends!” Jenny also had recently gotten engaged to Kevin and I was excited when she asked me to take their engagement photos for them.They had gotten engaged at Middleton down in Annapolis so we headed down there for a fun afternoon shoot!
I have two friends from college who I can somewhat take credit for introducing, which then resulted in them dating, getting married and recently, having a kid! I knew Pat from my ultimate playing and Lindsay from my sorority (go Alpha Sigma Kappa, Women in Technical Studies!) I brought Lindsay to practice one day and the rest is history! I have had the amazing privilege to be involved in all the important milestones of their life together. Not only was I there the day they met, but I was around when they started dating, I was blessed to do their engagement photos and be a bridesmaid in their wedding and finally, now I have gotten to take baby photos of their beautiful daughter, Abby!
Abby was a little fussy, but we got some good shots. It helps that she is such a cute baby! She gets her good looks from her mom. Read the rest of this entry »
A very happy thanks giving from my family to yours! I love this time of year to spend with family and to be reminded once more of the abundance of blessings that God has given me. These are a few snapshots of what I am most thankful for this year, my family!
Oh, did I already show this guy? Yeah, well he is pretty important to me!
